Emile du Bruyn, who matriculated from Point High School at the end of last year, and Moreeda Parker, the top 2013 matric learner from George Secondary School, are the proud NMMU George Campus recipients of this R75 600-a-year scholarship. Both have enrolled for the BCom Accounting for Chartered Accountants degree.
This brings to six the number of George Campus BCom students who have been awarded this scholarship since its inception. Two George Campus Nature Conservation students are also past recipients of the scholarship. All in all 136 NMMU Vice-Chancellor Scholars have benefited from the programme since its establishment.
The annual award continues for the duration of the students’ course provided academic performance remains of the highest standard.
Half of the current group of recipients have registered for programmes in the Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences with the BCom programme being the most popular. Other study fields chosen by the VC Scholars include Pharmacy, Construction Economics, Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering which are offered at the university’s campuses in Port Elizabeth.
