With the start of the 2015 academic year NMMU George Campus will offer a Higher Certificate programme in Information Technology in User Support Services.

This one year qualification aims to produce graduates who are productive, competent, able to work independently and who can manage time effectively in entry-level IT technical user support positions that span a wide range of computing environments requiring support personnel.

Public information evening

Learners interested in IT, their parents and interested members of the public are invited to attend a public information evening on Thursday, 18 September at 18:30 at NMMU George Campus in the Lecture Theatre (classroom 0011).

Academic staff members from the Faculty of Engineering, the Built Environment and IT from the university’s main campus in Port Elizabeth; as well as staff members from the George Campus will be on hand to provide more details about the new Higher Certificate programme.

One year curriculum

Students enrolling in the Higher Certificate: IT in User Support Services programme will focus on four modules, namely: Information Technology Skills 1, Information Systems 1, Technical Support 1 and User Support 1.

After successfully completing the Higher Certificate programme and meeting specific academic requirements, students will be able to further their studies towards a National Diploma programme in Information Technology (Support Services) offered the university’s Summerstrand North Campus in Port Elizabeth.
